Klix Extesnions

Summer Locks!!!

As someone who has worn extensions for 2 years now I can  definitely say that these Klix Extensions are AMAZING!! I am able to wash my hair, straighten it, or wear it wavy on my lazy hair days.  Not to mention I don't have to worry about them when I am at the pool this summer... so YES ladies you can swim with these in.  Just remember to have your boar bristle brush, and a good leave in conditioner so that you are able to brush your hair out as soon as you get out of the water, doing so will prevent any kind of matting or tangling to your extensions.  Oh and one other thing, you will have an instant hair styles when you get out of the water, just scrunch it a bit and you can have your beach wavy hair.

Fashion Police: Royal Wedding

What made a fashion statement at the ROYAL WEDDING besides the beautiful bride Katherine Middleton!!

Katherine chose to go along with the British label Alexander McQueeen, which was designed by Sarah Burton.  Her beautiful gown was made of ivory and white satin garzar, which was narrowed at the waist and padded at the hip.  This style draws on the Victorian tradition of corsetry and is a hallmark of McQueen's designs.  Besides the beautiful dress along with the 9 feet of train, her full veil, oh and lets not forget about the stunning diamond tiara, "the new Grace Kelly amongst us" was not only talk of the wedding.

HATS, HATS, HATS, they were everywhere, some chic others not so much!!  My personal best dressed from head to toe (literally) was Victoria Beckham, six months pregnant and still stunning and about David Beckham... yea total yumminess, he looked amazing and he too made a statement with his top hat!! Then you had Tara Palmer Tomkinson who just tried to hard... just saying!! But the biggest buzz of this magnificent Royal wedding was the maid of honor, Katherine's younger sister Pippa Middleton who was also wearing a McQueen dress.  Loved it all!! Can't wait or my "Royal Wedding"!!!

BRIDAL COUTURE

Finding That Perfect Dress!!!

The most important part of every girl's wedding is the dress!! We have spent our entire lives thinking of our dream wedding and there is nothing better than finding that dress that just makes jaws drop as they see us walking down the isle to unite with our Prince Charming!!!  Now of course the dress is numero uno on our list, but that is just the first part.  How will you complete the look and make it your own?!! Accessories, hair, nails, makeup and lets not forget the shoes!!!

Now when it comes to bridal hair, you can always have a chic chignon, or you can make it messy.  Then you have what I like to call Cinderella hair, a very classic look.  Here are a couple of my favorite dresses and hairstyles that suit the dress best!! Remember its always best to think ahead and figure out what look you want to have, and please take pictures, also be realistic and think about the type of hair you have.  If you have   extremely tight curls you probably won't be able to have a very smooth chic look, or if you have extremely thin hair you probably won't be able to have a full look to your style.   But worry no more... I am here to make your wedding dreams come true, for all you ladies with the curls and the frizz a Keratin Treatment is the way to go, with this being done it will illuminate that frizz that drives you crazy, and reduce the amount of curl without chemically damaging or changing your hair.  Then for you gals with the thin hair if its volume, fullness, and length you are wanting for your special day I can help you with that too... We offer a variety of different types of extensions here at The Beauty Box Salon so we can accommodate to your needs.  Like I said we have dreamt about this day since we were little girls, why kill the dream.  To book an appointment with Rosa Marrufo please call 214-559-3572 or visit us at thebeautyboxsalon.com

Wedding Season Is Here

Wedding Bells Ringing

Your big day is right around the corner, check list is getting checked and crunch time has hit!! Now of course all of the major things will be completed on the list but I do have to say ladies hair and makeup should be high on the list.   Just think you will have photos of your special day and what could be worse than having bad hair.  Here are a few hair styles that you can look into, first and foremost always keep in mind the time of year, who wants their hair down in Texas' summer heat, do yourself a favor and save the heat stroke for another day, another thing to look at would be your style of dress, if you have a sweetheart cut you can go with an updo or your hair down with soft curls, also keep in mind what type of vail you will having or if you will even have one.

Other questions you might have... Do I need a trial run?  In my opinion YES YES YES, you don't want to book an appointment for a bridal style out without even knowing what you are going to do, the trial run is done so that you and your stylist can create the look that you are wanting.  It will make it so much easier and less stressful for you and your stylist when it comes to the day of your wedding, it is also the time to tweek some things around.  I would also advise you bring in pictures of your dress and if possible your vail, once again it is always best to be proactive and having a plan set.

Now where to go... HERE of course, here at The Beauty Box we specialize not only in hair extension and color but we also specialize in hairstyling and updos. We are one of the finest Dallas bridal salons in the area and if its bridal hair you are looking for search no more, we will make sure that you feel and look your best, besides this important day doesn't happen everyday so make sure you are glowing with happiness and having beautiful hair of course!  For more information please call us at 214-559-3672 or visit us at www.thebeautyboxsalon.com

Lucky # 7!!!

HAVING THE MAGIC NUMBER 7 AS YOUR NATURAL HAIR COLOR!!!

WHAT IS A NUMBER 7?!!!   Basically the dark blondes are the ladies that can pull of any color they want to, lucky girls!! Rachel McAdams is a prime example of the gal who can rock out any hair color she wants!!! If you saw her in Hot Chick or my all time favorite movie Mean Girls "I'm sorry that people are so jealous of me... but I can't help it that I'm so popular" haha,  she was a platinum blonde which brought out the natural blush in her skin tone.  Then you see Rachel in The Notebook... loved the pin curls and the finger-waved hair!! With her hair being red, we noticed her beautiful blue eyes... so if you are a blue eyed gal having a very pretty red hair color will make them pop out soooo much more.  So we have seen Rachel go from blonde to red back to blonde... and with every hair color I have seriously been like " Ok that hair color looks amazing on her" but she got risky and traded in the light locks for a smoking chocolate brown hair color for her role in Wedding Crashers, I honestly felt like it would be to harsh for her skin tone but she once again pulled that hair color off! Loved it.

Now you know how extreme you can go from one color to then next!! But I wouldn't recommend it for everyone... if you have super dark hair please do yourself a favor and don't go blonde, and if you are a bombshell blonde don't trade in the fresh look for a gothic one... just saying!!  So if you are searching for the best color salon in Dallas search no more... The Beauty Box Salon will be your next beauty spot.  I make sure that every single client that sits in my chair leaves feeling like a million bucks whipping their hair back and forth.... Hope to see you in my chair.

Shakira Goes Blonde: Career Move or Not?!!

SHAKIRA, SHAKIRA!!!

First and foremost let me just say how much I freaking love this woman... I have been listening to Shakira's music since I was in 5th grade I have  seen her transition from her Pies Descalzos and Donde Estan Los Ladrones? albums to her first cross over album Laundry Service to her most recent, She Wolf and Sale El Sol.  LOVE HER!! Shakira was born in Barranquilla, Colombia in 1977, and a mere 13 years later Shakira recorded her very first album Magia, In 1995 Shakira recorded under Sony music, this was when all of Latin America fell in love with this hip shaking goddess.

Now not only have I been following her music... but I've also been following her hair styles... From the black hair, to the red hair to being a brunette and now a bombshell blonde... Shakira has even had her series of blonde hair.  She not only wowed the English language market when she did her first crossover album in November of 2001 but she wowed her Latin America fans with her blonde hair.  Many would say that Shakira did this bold transition as her career took a turn for the best,  but in reality she had traded in the dark locks for the blonde hair during her Anfibio (Amphibious) Tour in S. America, " a lot of people think I dyed my hair blonde to crossever, but that's not true.  I was a blonde in my Anfibio tour and that was before I was even dreaming about it!" Needless to say weather she is a fiery red head, a brunette or a blonde goddess she still sticks to her Colombian roots and will continue to please all of her fans... ESPECIALLY ME!! I will say I have been to her Oral Fixation and Sale El Sol concerts and all I can say is WOW, I had my own Shakira concert in the suite as I sang along to EVERY SINGLE song!!! :) LOVE HER!

How Blonde Can You Really Get?

How Blonde Can You Go? How Blonde Can You Go?

Now that spring has sprung upon on it is time to brighten up our locks!!   The question now is how blonde can you get without damaging your hair?!  First and for most if you are a brunette don’t expect to be blonde overnight, if you are wanting to go from one extreme to the other, now if you are wanting something subtle to brighten you up then that is perfect!  Now for you blodies if you are wanting to get even lighter as spring and summer approach the best suggestion I have for you is do it, but with this process you have to be sure that your hair will not get over processed.  Being in the industry I have had my share of blondes that have come to me with their hair broken off, completely dried out some to the extreme where all I can say is its best to cut it short and restore what healthy hair you do have left.  I will say once you have had your hair over processed it will take quite a bit of time for your hair to grow out of it, and I am not talking months ladies… it could take years.  I have a client who came to me 2 years ago to be exact, she had this beautiful long hair, but as the economy went down she thought she would save some money by going to someone who wasn’t as expensive… the only problem was it didn’t cost her $$ it cost her her hair!! She came to me with hair that was literally broken about 4 inches away from her scalp… she didn’t want to be a brunette and she didn’t want her hair cut off…  Didn’t leave me too many options, so what I did is I kept her as a blonde making sure I never overlapped into her already pre-lightened hair and I worked with her on the cut, I took off a little bit of length and gave her layers that would help blend in the hair that was broken off, now 2 years later her hair is healthier than ever, she is a bombshell blonde and her hair is once again long with beautiful long layers that have shape and movement.  As we know we all end up building a personal relationship with our stylist, why because at the end of the day we are putting something very dear to us in their hands…. Our hair!!!  For more information please visit our website at thebeautyboxsalon.com or call at 214-559-3572, see you in my chair!
