The Foundation Of An Good Haircut

 

The difference between a good haircut and a bad one!!  As a stylist who cares passionatly about how my clients feel when they leave my chair, it really just boggles me to see that their are stylist that don't know the foundation of a good haircut and a bad one!! First and for most let me just say that when you are given an amazing haircut you will know it, A. you will be able to style your hair with ease B. it will last you 6-8 weeks ( 4 weeks for ladies with short hair) C. you will get tons of complements, I mean TONS!! :D   Granted with every good service there comes a price, right... after all you do get what you pay for.  So if you have never had the privilege of having a haircut that you totally love, I personally invite you to come and sit in my chair, take my word when I say I promise that you will love it! Summer has come and gone, it is officially time to trade the lighter hair in for some darker locks. After being out in the sun and pool all summer long there is nothing better than bringing your hair back to a healthy shiny state with a rich dark color.

Color At Your Own Risk.

Alright ladies, here it is I understand times are tough but please listen to me when I say... DO NOT ATTEMPT TO COLOR YOUR OWN HAIR AT HOME!!! How hard can it be?  What could go wrong?  Well if you don't know what you are doing it can be very difficult... and a million things could go wrong.  You could break off your hair, have 3 different tones in your hair color, you could damage your hair to the point where you have no choice but to cut it all off or where you literally have hair that feels like cotton candy.  Then at the end of the day after all this has happened to you "just to save a few bucks", well let me just tell you, you end up having to spend twice the amount you would have if you would just leave it to the professionals.  I know this may sound a little harsh, but I truly say it with love, I have personally just seen way too many disasters happen.  Take for example my client I had in my chair just yesterday, she thought she could lighten her own hair at home... going from a dark brunette to a hot mess is the result she got.  As you can see she had 3 different tones going on, I had to cut at least 4 inches of her hair off, do a restorative deep conditioning treatment with Moroccan Oil Treatment Mask.  Obviously her goal was to become a blonde, but in order to preserve her hair, I told her that there is no way that I would be able to lighten her hair without damaging it even more.  Using Wella Color I brought her back to a very nice golden light brown color, once we get her hair back to its healthy state I will be able to incorporate some highlights to brighten her up. But personally I think this color looks fabulous on her, it brings out her beautiful eyes, and it compliments her skin tone amazingly.  So like I said ladies, I have just seen too many things go wrong when people attempt their own color, so PLEASE don't do it.

Rosa is BACK!!!

Alright my dear friends, as many may know I have recently lost my father unexpectedly.  It has been a tough time for my family and I, but I am glad to announce that I have returned to work as of September 6th.  I would like to say thank you to all that have been there for me during this hard time, but like I said I am happy to come back to what I love to do, which is making you look and feel your best!! Anne Hathaway Finds Herself in Fashion!!!

As the years pass, we have seen Anne Hathaway evolve into a major FASHIONISTA.  She now walks the Red Carpet with her head held up high, knocking us on our feet!! I love it, I will have to say my favorite role she has played was Andréa in the Devil Wears Prada.  Then to see her host the 2011 Oscars was amazing, she was stunning in every gown she wore that night... and yes she even rocked the tuxedo.  I personally can't wait to see her as this years sexy Catwoman in the upcoming film, Dark Knight Rises, but here recently she has slipped out of that Catwoman suit for the debut of her first ever Tod's campaign. " I have been a long time fan of Tod's, and was very excited to be a part of exploring a new side of their identity with the launch of their Signature collection."  Can't wait to see what this growing fashion icon will bring in years to come!!

What Great Extensions Should Look Like

There is nothing worse then being at the local Starbucks enjoying my coffee in the morning to see a random woman come in with some of the worse extensions I have ever seen before.   Ladies let me tell you that your extensions should not be two toned, your hair cut should blended, and most of all they should look natural.  It really breaks my heart that there are women out there that put their trust into their hair stylist that sends them out looking like a total disaster, and even worse at the fact that there are stylist out there that will do that to their clients.  I know that when my clients leave with their beautiful new set of extensions they look FABULOUS!!  Why?! Because extensions are an investment, they aren't cheap, and women want to get their moneys worth.  Second of all that is my name walking around, there is nothing better than seeing my client and getting a call from her later that day just to tell me that she was stopped at Saks and was told how beautiful her hair color looked... of course they couldn't complement her extensions because they looked that natural.  Anyhow, that in itself is one of the most rewarding feelings EVER, and I am proud to say that I do my best to see my client smiling "whipping her hair back and forth".  Ha  So I guess all I am trying to say is ladies do your research, there really is someone out there that will give you the proper treatment.

Amazing Alternative to the Brazilian Blowout | Dallas

Pravana Perfection

As a stylist who has worked with several different types of Keratin Treatments, all I can say is that I'm done working with anything "Keratin" or "Brazilian Blowouts".  If there is keratin then there is FORMALDEHYDE, I love my clients but I can't continue to breathe in toxins that can later catch up with me in life, not to mention that I want to make sure I work with the safest products to preserve my clients' hair.  With that being said, I have recently discovered a new product Pravana Perfection Smooth-out, unlike some trouble filled straighteners , this is a unique revolutionary in salon service that utilizes brand new technology to suspend the internal textural memory of the hair to safely transform it to a new soft sensual look and feel.  There has never been anything like it before.

DEAL OR NO DEAL?

In the past 2 years we have seen Groupon, BuyWithMe, and Living Social go through the roof.  I myself have been able to really appreciate these awesome online deals, but as someone on the other end the table, I feel like I have to reiterate what these amazing deals are all about.  As a growing stylist in the DFW I have found these Online Specials to be both good and bad, over the last year we have offered several different types of specials here at The Beauty Box Salon. Along with them I have made several loyal clients, who now come see me every 6 weeks. Their purpose was to seek a new stylist, and lets face finding the "right" stylist is both scary and expensive... but being able to provide my services to women and men who are new to the area, have been wanting to find a new stylist has made their search so much more easier because they don't feel like they are spending an arm and a leg to "try" someone out.  I personally have offered to partake in these specials for the reason that I am always open for NEW business, and at the end of the day it pays off.  

Now on another note, we have those clients who just want a "good" deal.  Along with that good deal, they also feel entitled to overstep boundaries.  I'm sorry but I am not here to just be "another" coupon to add to your stack, with that being said if you make an appointment respect that persons schedule and show up on time... Yes I get it things may come up and you may have to reschedule your appointment, but when you change it 2-3 times and then not show up... I'm sorry but that is just straight up rude.... Like I said, I am here to make you happy and I will do everything in my power to make sure that when you leave my chair you are in love with your hair!  r

Klix Extesnions

Summer Locks!!! 

As someone who has worn extensions for 2 years now I can  definitely say that these Klix Extensions are AMAZING!! I am able to wash my hair, straighten it, or wear it wavy on my lazy hair days.  Not to mention I don't have to worry about them when I am at the pool this summer... so YES ladies you can swim with these in.  Just remember to have your boar bristle brush, and a good leave in conditioner so that you are able to brush your hair out as soon as you get out of the water, doing so will prevent any kind of matting or tangling to your extensions.  Oh and one other thing, you will have an instant hair styles when you get out of the water, just scrunch it a bit and you can have your beach wavy hair.

Fashion Police: Royal Wedding

What made a fashion statement at the ROYAL WEDDING besides the beautiful bride Katherine Middleton!!

Katherine chose to go along with the British label Alexander McQueeen, which was designed by Sarah Burton.  Her beautiful gown was made of ivory and white satin garzar, which was narrowed at the waist and padded at the hip.  This style draws on the Victorian tradition of corsetry and is a hallmark of McQueen's designs.  Besides the beautiful dress along with the 9 feet of train, her full veil, oh and lets not forget about the stunning diamond tiara, "the new Grace Kelly amongst us" was not only talk of the wedding.  

HATS, HATS, HATS, they were everywhere, some chic others not so much!!  My personal best dressed from head to toe (literally) was Victoria Beckham, six months pregnant and still stunning and about David Beckham... yea total yumminess, he looked amazing and he too made a statement with his top hat!! Then you had Tara Palmer Tomkinson who just tried to hard... just saying!! But the biggest buzz of this magnificent Royal wedding was the maid of honor, Katherine's younger sister Pippa Middleton who was also wearing a McQueen dress.  Loved it all!! Can't wait or my "Royal Wedding"!!!
